s.1 asociación femenina de estudiantes que suele funcionar como club socialSORORITIES Este tipo de asociaciones de estudiantes (las “Fraternities” para los hombres y las Sororities para las mujeres) se crearon en el s. XIX en las universidades del este de EE.UU., y se fueron extendiendo rápidamente por todo el país. Los nombres de las “Fraternities” y Sororities se forman con letras del alfabeto griego. Estas asociaciones reúnen a estudiantes de nivel cultural y social similares y permiten a sus integrantes trabar amistad fácilmente. Los estudiantes que deseen de formar parte de una hermandad deben ser apadrinados por miembros de la misma y someterse a numerosos ritos iniciáticos.
